MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS

Kyle FitzGerald and Melodie Paletta have been dancing together for two years, blending their distinct performance backgrounds into a powerful and dynamic partnership.

Kyle brings the refinement of ballroom, while Melodie contributes the expressive flair of musical theater. Together, they create a style that is both technically precise and artistically compelling.

As US Open Classic Finalists, their individual accomplishments stand out. Kyle is the 2022 US Open Rising Star Champion, and Melodie is the 2019 US Open Young Adult Champion.

Their partnership is rooted in excellence, and their passion for teaching is reflected in their workshops across Europe, the US, and Canada. With over 15 years of combined teaching experience, Kyle and Melodie are known for their highly technical and precise instruction, making them a favorite among dancers who are serious about growth. Whether working with newcomers or seasoned competitors, they bring clarity, structure, and a touch of playfulness to every class.

Off the dance floor, Kyle is a history enthusiast and avid gamer, while Melodie is a trained singer with a love for storytelling. These personal passions bring depth and creativity to their dancing and teaching.

These lessons are for you if:
  1. You’re competent in these basic patterns: push break, left side pass (plus inside turn variation), right side underarm pass, tuck turn, and whip (with inside and outside turn variations).
  2. You can dance continuously through a song.
  3. You’ve taken Basics Plus or Improver-level classes or have equivalent experience.
  4. You’re an experienced Westie who is working on your technique and skills for dancing with other levels of dancers, and you’re looking for opportunities to develop your skills and repertoire.

This event is not for absolute beginners. Check with your instructors if you are uncertain about any of these competencies.

Social dance, all welcome

  • Bring all your naughty and nicest moves to dance with with Kyle and Melodie! This special West Coast Swing social welcomes everyone (you do not need to be attending the workshop to join in).
  • 8:00-10:00 PM
  • Drop-in (no pre-registration)
  • $5 e-Transfer at the door
  • Kings College Dance Studio, Castine Way (side entrance by the Library; head downstairs to the studio)

☃️ SATURDAY, DECEMBER 20

Lesson, multi-level

  • How nice is your technique? Have some naughty dance habits? This workshop will help you identify and practice ways to make your connection stronger and more clear. Unwrap a more fun dancing experience with instruction, advice and feedback from celebrated westie Pros Kyle and Melodie! This is your chance to learn from award-winning dancers.
  • Two hours of instruction plus one hour guided practice
  • Limited space and role balance applies
  • Dancer application and registration required
  • $60 via e-Transfer in advance
  • Fusion Dance and Wellness (i.e. Arthur Murray Halifax Dance Center): 59 McQuade Lake Crescent, Halifax

Get private instruction and feedback from Kyle and/or Melodie, on your Lead,  Follow, or Switch dancing

LENGTH: 45 minute sessions

DATES: Available with advance booking for Sunday, December 21

COST:

  • Kyle: $100 CDN cash
  • Melodie: $100 CDN cash
  • Kyle and Melodie together: $150 CDN cash


There is an additional $25 fee required as e-Transfer to Halifax West Coast Swing to reserve and confirm your space at the venue.

FORMAT, EITHER:

  • Single dancer, you receive all feedback (you are required to bring a dance helper of the opposite role), or
  • Dancer pair, both people receive feedback
