West Coast Swing workshop with Attila Kobori

NOVEMBER 6-8 in Halifax

  • Attila is known for being a versatile dancer with extensive competitive experience. During this workshop, you’ll be introduced to some of the musicality, improvisation, and diverse dance knowledge that helped him reach the highest levels of competition. West Coast Swing Classes

BEGINNER BOOTCAMP

  • A taster for beginners! In one class, learn the basic patterns, timing and connection to dance West Coast Swing
  • No dance experience or partner required
  • Next class: September 13, 2026 (registration closed, apply for Westie One instead!)

WESTIE ONE

  • Spend three weeks progressively learning the basics of West Coast Swing. This class is created for beginner and those starting to learn their alternate role.
  • Next classes: September 20, 27, October 4, 2026

WESTIE TWO

  • A series that builds your basics of West Coast Swing with variations and technique. Continue after Westie One and learn The Whip, strengthening your frame, and creative push breaks.
  • Next classes: October 18, 25 and November 1

WESTIE THREE

  • Preparation for Improver-level classes by focusing on turning, connections and timing. Feel more smooth and confident by solidifying fundamentals
  • Next classes: November 15, 22, 29

IMPROVER

  • Progressive, topic-focused lessons that provide variations on patterns, and strengthen your skills in footwork, musicality, and technique development
  • Next classes: September 20, 27 October 4, 2026

Guided Practices

MARCH 29

ALL-LEVEL

  • Support for what you’re working on from our instructors.
  • Come prepared to ask for help with a couple of movements, patterns or skills you want to work on.
  • Prerequisite: you’re comfortable dancing basic patterns (passes, push break, tucks and whips) continuously through a song.
  • Sunday, March 29, 5:15-6:30 PM.
  • Free to attend, drop-in.
  • Location: St. Andrews Community Centre. 3380 Barnstead Lane, Halifax

West Coast Swing Social Dances

HALLOWEEN SOCIAL: DAYS OF DARKNESS

Westies, let’s make it weird! DJ Spacebar’s prepared an extra-special (extra creepy) playlist for you to creep the floor. Come dressed in costume (or just as your spooky self) to dance. Don’t ghost on this night, it’s going to to be scary fun!

Everyone welcome, no partner or experience needed to join in. This Halloween themed social dance starts with a mini taster lesson for those who want to learn/practice their basic steps.

WATERFRONT WEST COAST SWING, ALL SUMMER LONG

We’re making the best dance memories every week on the Halifax waterfront! Everyone is welcome to join in the fun, no partner needed-drop in and join us, for free!

Drop-in! First and third Fridays of the month, starting September 18, 2026.

Our DJs bring the tunes and all your westie friends are in the room. Our WCS social is a night of fun, music, and dance—and you’re invited! We welcome everyone from seasoned dancers to complete beginners.
