Bootcamp class details

Come to West Coast Swing Bootcamp! At our single-day class we’ll show you the basics of those “Improv” dances that you see on social media!

Who is this for?

If you want to try partner-dancing for the first time!
You’ve seen West Coast Swing Improv dancers on social media and are curious to learn.
If you’ve done other partner dances and want a new challenge.
You’ve seen us dancing on the Halifax Waterfront or at Blues/WCS social dances and want to be part of our community.
You’ve taken some intro WCS classes and want to learn more. Or, taken some classes and attended socials, and want a refresher.
You’ve been dancing WCS for a while and want to try the other role (lead or follow)

Taking a couple of Bootcamp classes and attending a few of our social dances will help you be ready for our more advanced All-Levels classes.

Cost: $20 per person.

No partner or experience is necessary. We rotate dancers through the class.

Don’t wait to register, since we aim for a certain role-balance of leads and follows, you may be on our wait list if requesting to register late.

All-levels class details

Location: 3380 Barnstead Lane, Halifax

Next dates: Three Sundays, September 22 to October 6
Two hours, 6:15pm to 8:15pm

During our Fall All-levels classes, there will be 90 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of practice time.

Who is this for?

You have competency in the four basic patterns (push break, side passes, and whip), and are able to dance continuously throughout a song.
You’ve taken Beginner and Improver classes, or have equivalent experience.
You’re an experienced Westie who is working on your technique, skills dancing with other levels of dancers, and looking for opportunities to try variations.

Classes will consist of skill-building exercises with application in the dance. Instructors provide individual feedback wherever possible, to help you achieve your goals.

COST: $45 per person includes all three weeks.

Notes: Registration is limited within our desired role balance, so register early to avoid being waitlisted. There’s no need to bring a partner, we rotate dancers through class.

Future All-levels sessions are planned for November 3, 10, 17 and December 1 and 8.
